Betty Jane Crawford

October 17, 1934 - December 23, 2021


Betty Jane Crawford, 87, of Dudley passed from this life on Thursday, December 23, 2021, with her husband of 67 years by her side. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM Monday, December 27, 2021, at the First Baptist Church of Clyde, with Rev. Larry Tarver officiating under the direction of Bailey Howard Funeral Home of Clyde. Burial will follow in the Kendrick Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4:00 until 6:00 PM Sunday at the funeral home.


Betty was born into a wonderful family in 1934 in Clyde to Otto and Ruby (Payne) Rogers. She grew up in Clyde and the Midway area. She graduated from Clyde High School, where she participated in all sports and excelled academically. She was a member of the 1953 state championship tennis doubles team.


Betty married Alton Dale Crawford of Oplin in March of 1954. They lived in Cross Plains for over 30 years where they raised their three children. They later moved to the Dudley area where they have lived for over 20 years. She loved spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren, attending as many of their school activities as she could. She will be greatly missed by all of her family.


She is survived by her husband, Dale Crawford; son, Roger Crawford of Dudley; daughter, Debbie Fortune and husband Jerry of Dudley; and son Jim Crawford and wife Sandra of Grape Creek. She is also survived by five grandchildren, eleven great grandchildren, and one great great grandson. Also surviving her are four sisters, Wanda Black, JoAnn Lannom, Virg(Nell) Carter, and Nancy Stout, along with many nieces and nephews.


Betty was preceded in death by her parents, four brothers, Paul, O. L., John, and Bailey Rogers, and one sister, Bobbie Rogers.
