Obituary

Our beloved BROOKE RACHEL CRAWFORD, the eldest of two children, was born to the late Joy Mosby Crawford and Michael Crawford in Baltimore, Maryland on November 7, 1985.

As a child, Brooke was always very curious and smart. She was a natural-born leader that would be the first to “take charge and direct the pack.” She strongly disliked injustice and would try to defend others.

Brooke received her formal education in the Baltimore & Howard County School Systems where she was an avid and quick-witted student. Our “Brookie” was multifaceted: very outgoing, helpful, friendly, and fearless.

After accepting Jesus Christ as her personal Savior, Brooke showed her love for the message of the church, wherein she was an active member of Progressive First Baptist Church of Baltimore in her twenties (20's).

She was employed with the Baltimore City Public School System for over ten years, where she enjoyed her administrative duties. Outside of work, she loved to socialize and dance. Brooke’s natural beauty and brilliant smile always stood out in a crowd. She liked to have her hair, nails, and clothes styled just for the occasion. She had a sharp sense of humor and could make you laugh, until you literally ached. Not only was her mind sharp, but she also had an acute eye for details.

Brooke overcame many obstacles in life, including the loss of her cherished mother and uncle, as well as surviving a near fatal car accident. In the latter portion of her life, she became the supervisor of a Chrysalis House Treatment Center, helping many others process through their struggles.

On a Wednesday morning [December 29, 2021], she was touched gently by the “Angel of Mercy” and now she is resting in the arms of her Savior. She definitely will be missed. Yet we sorrow not, as those without hope, for we know that death has no more sting, power, or strength over those who believe in Christ Jesus.

As a mother, sister, daughter, aunt, niece, cousin, and friend, she will be greatly missed. There are many left to celebrate her life and embrace her memory. Brooke leaves to rejoice in her memory -- Michael Crawford (father), Trinity (daughter), Alexis (sister), Angeline Mosby (grandmother), Cameron Ellerby (nephew), Eugene Mosby, Jr. (uncle), Anthony Mosby (uncle), April Mosby (aunt), and a grand host of relatives and friends.

“Her Journey's Just Begun”

Don't think of her as gone away. Her journeys have just begun. Life holds so many facets, this earth is only one.

Just think of her as resting from the sorrows and the tears in a place of warmth and comfort where there are no days and no years.

Think how she must be wishing that we could know today, how nothing, but sadness can really pass away.

And think of her as living in the hearts of those she touched. For nothing loved is ever lost, and she was loved so much.
