Byron Vance Goins, 75, died on August 7, after a long illness.
Born on September 21, 1944, in Terre Haute, Indiana, he lived the vast majority of his life in Buffalo, NY.
Byron was a graduate of Lafayette High School in Buffalo. He spent a long and distinguished career with the United Way of Buffalo & Erie County, retiring in 2011. He was very active in his community, having served his parish church, St. Boniface, for many years, and as a coach of youth track & field and basketball. Byron also quietly supported other community organizations with his time and attention. Continuing in this spirit, Byron arranged for his remains to be donated to the University at Buffalo Jacobs School of Medicine and Biomedical Sciences.
Byron was a devoted father who is survived by his son, Christopher V. Goins (Melissa), his daughters, Sonya R. Goins-Singletary (Donnell) of Buffalo, NY, and Leslie M. Parks (Joseph) of Charlotte, NC, his brother John M. Aaron of Tallahassee, FL, seven grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, Marian W. and James Aaron, and his sister, Donna D. Ellis.
