Charlotte Bevels Roy of Abilene, TX, passed away on January 20, 2021, at Hendrick Medical Center North, Abilene, TX.
Visitation will be 5:00-7:00 PM on Sunday, January 24, 2021, at The Hamil Family Funeral Home, 6449 Buffalo Gap Road. Funeral services will be held Monday, January 25, 2021, at 10:00 AM in the Sanctuary of First Baptist Church, 1333 N.3rd, Abilene, TX, with John Moore and C. V. Blake officiating. Burial will follow at Cedar Hill Cemetery, Abilene, TX.
Charlotte was born in Abilene, TX, to Charles and Irene Bevels on February 04, 1947. She grew up in Abilene, TX, and graduated from Abilene High School in 1965. Charlotte married Benny DeWayne Roy in 1966 at Dyess Air Force Base in Abilene, TX. She worked for the City of Abilene - Animal Services Program for 30 years. Charlotte was a member of the Priscilla Sunday School Class at First Baptist Church where she enjoyed fellowship with true Prayer Warrior Women.
Over the years, Charlotte was involved with City Light Ministry, Texas District V Little League Baseball, Abilene Little League Baseball, Taylor-Jones Humane Society, and Texas Animal Control Association where she was awarded the Presidential Citation in 2005.
Charlotte was known to her great nieces and nephews as "Aunt Chocolate". She was the life of every party and always brought with her the gift of laughter. People who knew Charlotte were amazed at her ability to connect with all animals. Charlotte enjoyed trading practical jokes with those she was fondest of, especially Dr. Will Shudde and "Ruby-doo". She loved her grandchildren with her whole heart and always wanted the best for her family and friends. Charlotte will be deeply missed.
Charlotte was preceded in death by her parents, sister Marylou Levrets and brother Harrell Knight.
She is survived by son, Barry (Lisa) Roy, grandchildren, Nick and Madison Roy; son, Chuck (Paige) Roy, grandchildren, Hayden and Emma Roy. She is also survived by nieces, Susan (Bobby) Walker, Jan Levrets Crumpton, Kathy (Jeff) Wood; nephews, Stan (Judy) Levrets and Dennis Knigh,t and many great nieces and nephews she loved dearly.
Pallbearers will be: Grandsons, Nick Roy and Hayden Roy; Great-nephews, Jeron Powell and Clay Walker; Friends, Joe Helm and Cole Edmenson.
Memorials may be given to City Light Ministry, 336 Hickory Street, Abilene, TX, 79601, and Taylor-Jones Humane Society, 2301 N. 3rd, Abilene, TX, 79603.
