Christine (Santilli) Barstow, age 50, loving mother, daughter, wife and sister, passed away on Tuesday, September 14 at the Cleveland Clinic after a much extended illness.
Christine was a devoted teacher of the Perry Local School system where she taught students suffering from mental handicaps, disabilities and dysfunctional home lives. Never ignoring a child in need, she continued this work for 30 years, touching the lives of each one of her students, who worked with the Repository to nominate her as "Teacher of the Year" in 1997. Christine belonged to St. Mark's Episco pal Church where she was ad mired for her generosity and compassion for everyone around her.
Her father, Frank A. Santilli, preceded her in death in 1962 and has met his little girl at the pearly gates. Christine is survived by her soul mate and husband of five years, Jeff Bar stow; mother, Margaret (Gen nett) Santillii, whose life was filled with joy by her child; daughter, Jenna Slingluff, whose appreciation and love for her mother can not be expressed in words; stepdaughter, Ashley Barstow; brothers and sister-in-law, Frank G. Santilli, Daniel Santilli and Sandy McIntyre; father-in-law and mother- in-law, Jack and Nita Barstow.
Friends will be received on Friday, 5 to 8 p.m. at the ROSSI FUNERAL HOME and Saturday morning from 10 to 11 a.m. at the church. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday at St. Mark's Episcopal Church, with Rev. Julie Harris officiating. Interment at Calvary Cemetery. Christine's memory will go on forever in the lives of those whom she touched with her selflessness, generosity and everlasting love.
