Drew Ann Nowell

May 10, 1946 – April 22, 2021

 

Drew Ann Conley Nowell, 74, of Abilene passed away Thursday, April 22, 2021, from complications of COVID-19. She was born May 10, 1946, in Brady, Texas, to John Earl Conley and Thelma Della Barr Conley.

 

Visitation will be held Monday, April 26, from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM at The Hamil Family Funeral Home, 6449 Buffalo Gap Road.

 

Graveside service will be 2:00 PM on Tuesday, April 27, at the Texas State Veterans Cemetery at Abilene. Family requests that all COVID precautions be taken if attending.

 

Drew grew up in Concho County, Texas, and graduated from Paint Rock High School where she was the valedictorian of the class of 1964. She was also the first homecoming queen. She participated in sports and journalism and was both a twirler and a cheerleader. After high school she attended secretarial school in Abilene where she met her husband Dick. They married on November 4, 1966. Together they lived in Abilene, El Paso, San Antonio, and back to Abilene where they have lived since 1979. She worked as a bookkeeper for several companies in the Abilene area including Harkin Oil, Perini Ranch, and Region 10 Education Service Center. Drew attended Broadview Baptist Church where she and Dick were active members. They enjoyed going on cruises together and spending time with family, friends, and their dinner club.

 

She was preceded in death by her husband Dick Nowell, her parents, and both brothers, Jean Conley and Jack Conley.

Drew is survived by daughter, Carol Katrice Nowell McCullough, her husband Clyde Carlyle McCullough, III, and their daughter Kyla Faith; son, Richard Kevin Nowell, his wife Tobi Nowell, their daughter Kaedyn Bayleigh; as well as their grown sons, A. J. Clark and Spence Clark and their families, sister in law, Twila Nowell and her family, and sister in law, Rosemary Nowell Hall and her husband Joe and their family.

 

Memorials may be made in lieu of flowers to Ben Richey Boys Ranch.
