Rev. Earl Ostrom was born to Thelma and Russell Ostrom in Seattle WA on October 18, 1934. He studied at Southwestern Assemblies of God Bible College and sang in the Harvester’s Choir and traveled in the Harvester’s male chorus. He was an ordained minister with the Assemblies of God and served in pastoral ministry for 63 years in the Phoenix area as well as in Oklahoma and Arkansas. Many Arizonans will remember Pastor Ostrom as the Assemblies of God District Youth and Education Director. He served in this capacity from 1968-1975. He passed peacefully in his home, surrounded by his immediate family.
He loved his wife of 63 years and had three children who respected and adored him. Known by all as a man of God, Brother Ostrom made an impact on thousands of church congregants and students throughout his years of ministry.
Earl loved good conversation and no one was a stranger to him. He had a deep resonant voice that commanded attention and will be fondly remembered by many for his singing voice as well.
He is preceded in death by his son, Michael Ostrom; brothers, Victor and Harold Ostrom; sisters, Vesta and Winona Ostrom. He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Rosa Mae; his children Valerie Heath and Jon Marc Ostrom; his grandchildren, Joshua (Roxi) and Tiffany Heath, Steven and Ryan (Bethany) Ostrom, Alicia (Adam) Wells, Ethan, Judah, Levi and Corban Ostrom; his sister, Vivian (David) Ross; his daughter-in-laws, Christi Ostrom and Rosemary Ostrom, his great grandchildren, Remi, Wylie and River; extended family; dear friends and fellow ministers.
His immediate family will lay his remains to rest on Thursday, Aug 6th at West Resthaven Cemetery, 6540 W. Northern Avenue, Glendale, AZ 85301. A Celebration of Life will be held on Friday, August 7th at 7pm at Bell Road Church in Phoenix, AZ.
