Obituary

Elizabeth Anne Montgomery, age 96, passed from her Earthly life into her Heavenly home on Saturday, September 5, 2020.


Graveside services will be held on Friday, September 11, 2020, at 2:00 PM in the Elliott Hamil Garden of Memories Cemetery under the direction of Elliott Hamil Funeral Home. A Celebration of her Life with be held at Lakeway Church, Lakeway, TX, 78734, on November 20, 2020, and on Zoom for those unable to travel.


Elizabeth was born on July 10, 1924, in Denver, Colorado, to Herman John and Vera (Wood) Plesscher. She graduated McMurry University in 1965 with a BA in Education. She never taught, but she devoted her life to being a homemaker and creating a loving and warm Christian home.


A Christian mother, she was a Bible Study teacher of over 400 women in Scottsdale, Arizona, and instilled in her family a love of Christ. She was a member of Wylie Baptist Church in Wylie, Texas, and Lakeway Church in Lakeway, Texas.


Elizabeth was a member of Chi Omega sorority at Miami University and PLO of Abilene, Texas. She was also an accomplished cook, seamstress, tennis player, Bible teacher, and choir member.


A woman full of Christian love and charity, she was an extremely strong woman and a woman of faith and action who assisted disabled veterans, homeless, those in need of food, and children with health issues with whatever assistance she could provide or find. She shared her personal faith with those she cared for, impacting their lives forever. She attended to her disabled daughter for over 60 years, and tirelessly doted on her grandchildren.


Elizabeth was preceded in death by her parents, and by her daughter Jolene Montgomery.

She is survived by her daughter, Melanie Damron and son in law, Tyler Damron of Austin, TX; grandchildren and their families, Vijai and Ashley Damron Mohan of Burlingame, CA, Thomas Tyler (Ty) Damron, II, and Jessica O’Neill of Houston, Brooke Damron Rogers of San Antonio; and four great grandchildren.
