Obituary

Dr. Bratcher was born in New York City and later moved to Ohio. There he attended The Ohio State University, graduating from the School of Medicine and specializing in surgery. After graduation, Dr. Bratcher joined the United States Air Force, serving as a flight surgeon and achieving the rank of Captain while being stationed in San Antonio. After his military service, he practiced medicine in San Antonio for the next fifty plus years and became Chief of Staff at Methodist Hospital. He retired from practice in 2012. Dr. Bratcher led a wonderful and fulfilling life that revolved around family, travel, gardening, woodworking, the Arts, and a continuous quest for knowledge. Dr. Bratcher was married for 67 years to his surviving spouse, June. Their family includes Beth Clegg, Kim Kuykendall, Daniel Bratcher, David and (spouse) Monica Bratcher, seven grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents Everitt and Mary Sue Bratcher and son-in-law Ken Clegg Services for Dr. Bratcher will be held on Thursday, Sept. 30, beginning with calling hours at 9:30 AM at Covenant Presbyterian Church, 211 Roleto Dr., San Antonio, Tx 78213. His funeral will follow at 10:30 with Dr. Dan Milford officiating. A private graveside service will follow later in the day with Dr. Bratcher being interred at Sunset Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that contributions be made in his memory to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital (https://www.stjude.org).
