Obituary

Gary A. Cleveland, 77, passed away Thursday evening, March 9, 2023. He was a long time Greenwood resident.

 

He was born September 16, 1945 in Evansville, IN to Onas LaRue Cleveland and Marguerite Beatrice Cleveland. He married Terry Cleveland on December 30, 1967 in Henderson, KY. Survivors include his wife, Terry Cleveland of Greenwood; two sons, Derek (Vicki) Cleveland of Greenwood and Daron Cleveland of Greenwood; and two grandchildren, Amelia and Chase Cleveland.

 

He was a graduate of Henderson High School. He later graduated from the University of Kentucky, where he was a member of Lambda Chi Alpha fraternity.

 

Gary was co-owner of LaRue Insurance, founded July 5, 1974. He held many professional insurance memberships He received numerous accolades, including the PIA Agent of the year, and Field Representative Association’s Field Representative of the Year for the State of Indiana. He was a Certified Insurance Counselor, and taught the curriculum coast to coast.

 

He was a member of Greenwood Masonic Lodge #514, F. & A.M. He was an active member of the Murat Shrine. He was Past President of the Corvette Club, Murat Band, and the Chanters.

 

He loved spending time with his family. His passions included working, traveling, motorcycling, boating and Corvettes.

 

Visitation will take place from 3-7PM, Thursday, March 16, at Wilson St.Pierre Funeral Service & Crematory, Greenwood Chapel. A Masonic tribute with funeral services will follow at 7PM.
