Obituary

Glennis Cockrell Frost, 101, of Abilene completed life’s journey on February 24, 2023, after living a full Christian life.


Graveside services will be held on Thursday, March 2, 2023, at 2:00 PM in Elmwood Memorial Park in the Garden of Faith with Joe Frush officiating. Visitation will be held on Wednesday evening, March 1, 2023, from 5:00 PM – 7:00 PM at Elliott-Hamil Funeral Home on 277 S.


Glennis was born on September 15, 1921, in Hereford, TX, to the late J. E. and Ella Mae (Wyatt) Cockrell. She graduated from Hereford High School and went on to attend Business College in Amarillo. She married L. R. (Vern) Frost on July 1, 1946, in Hereford. She followed his career several places where he owned several automobile dealerships. They initially came to Abilene in 1946 and returned in 1961. She was a devoted homemaker while her children were growing up. She was a loving and devoted mother caring for the needs of her family. She eventually began her career as a legal secretary and bookkeeper. She was employed with Willoughby, Pope, Batjer, Glandon, and Dickinson Law Firm, and Rutledge and Rutledge Law Firm. She was a longtime member of First Baptist Church where she was a member of the Sarah Sunday School Class for many years. Glennis was also a member of the Green Bean Supper Club since 1952, and a member of the Carpe Diem Study Club. Glennis will be remembered for her love and being a sweet loving Christian lady.


She was preceded in death by her parents, her beloved husband of 62 1/2 years, L. R. (Vern) Frost, her two sons, Gary Frost and Ricky Frost, her brother, J. W. Cockrell, and her two sisters, Audrey Chambliss and Odessa Russell.


She leaves to cherish precious memories her daughter, Camille Frost Asmus and her husband Harry, two granddaughters, Tracy Borom and her husband Ryan, and Nikki Frost, two great grandchildren, Kalie Ellinger and Gracie Borom, three great great grandsons, Colt, Cannon, and Cash Ellinger, and numerous nieces and nephews.
