ROTHSCHILD--Herbert G., age 85, of New York City, passed away peacefully on November 29, 2022 after a short illness. Herb was born on September 15, 1937 to Karl and Wally Rothschild in New York City. After Herb graduated from Stuyvesant High School in 1953, he went on to study accounting and business at New York University. After graduating with a Bachelor of Science degree in accounting, he started his first job at Saltzer, Zipris and Rothschild, kickstarting a 50+ year career in accounting including serving as a partner at Rothschild Topal for many years before successfully selling that company to Prager Metis. In 1953, Herb met Marie when they were counselors at Crane Lake Camp and they embarked on a 60+ year relationship, first as close friends and later, as husband and wife, when they were married in 1975, then sharing 47 years of marriage together. Herb and Marie had four boys, Rich, Gregg, Michael and Marc. In 2015, Herb retired and spent his time playing tennis, learning at adult education courses, taking long walks, tackling The New York Times crossword puzzles, reading and enjoying a cigar on his terrace. Herb is survived by his wife, Marie, sister, Bernette, sons, Rich, Gregg, Michael and Marc, daughters-in-law, Maggi and Danielle and grandchildren, Haley, Keith, Harley, Jack, Dylan, Amy, Eli, Amanda, Molly and Carly.
