Jay Levinson died at age 19 serving as an infantry soldier in Vietnam. After graduating from Stuyvesant at age 16, Jay got a full-time job at the New York Stock Exchange while also attending Hunter College part-time. He did this to help his family. They lived in the Monroe Projects in the Bronx and needed his help financially. According to many of his Stuyvesant classmates, Jay was an excellent athlete with a wonderful personality.

Jay's classmates have set up a scholarship fund with the Stuyvesant High School Alumni Association to honor his memory. Learn more about the Jay Levinson '65 Memorial Scholarship here.
