Obituary

Jerry K. Pittard, 82, of Galva, died at 3:42 a.m., Wednesday, September 21, 2022 at OSF Richard L. Owens Hospice Home in Peoria.


Cremation will be accorded and a memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Sunday, September 25 at Rux Funeral Home in Galva with Pastor Chet Travis officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service with Masonic Rites conducted at 1:45 p.m. Private inurnment will be held at LaFayette Cemetery. Memorials may be directed to the American Cancer Society, St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, OSF Richard L. Owens Hospice Home or to a charity of the donor’s choice.


He was born July 7, 1940 in Kewanee, the son of Everett E. and Anna C. (Butler) Pittard. He married Barbara L. Miller on June 19, 1976 at the LaFayette Methodist Church. She survives as does a son, Jonathon Pittard (Kelly Greenhagen) of Victoria, a daughter, Jennifer (Todd) Good of Galesburg, a sister, Debbie Pittard of Galesburg and two grandchildren, Nolan and Addison Good. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Mark in infancy.


Jerry served his country in the U.S. Army Reserves from 1964-70 and he earned his Bachelors of Science degree from Bradley University in Peoria. He had first worked for his father at the LaFayette Grain and Feed and had also worked at several other businesses before working at Martin Engineering in Neponset as an inside sales representative and purchasing department coordinator until his retirement. He was a member of the Galva Congregational Church and the Galva Masonic Lodge. He was an avid golfer, St. Louis Cardinal fan and youth sport fan, especially of the events of his grandchildren which were his pride and joy.
