Obituary

Coach Matt Hahn died on July 8, 2021, at the age of 67.


At Stuyvesant, Coach Hahn coached the JV Football team (1984-2005) and also the JV and Varsity Baseball teams (1993-2021) for a total of 37 years. In addition, he worked in the Stuyvesant Program office for over 20 years.


Confined to a wheelchair since 1979 due to an automobile accident, Coach Hahn served as an inspiration to all those who encountered him with his perseverance, positive attitude, and friendly smile. Coach Hahn was instrumental in bringing changes in New York City to assist those with disabilities who faced discrimination. He was honored by NYC and presented an award by then Mayor Ed Koch.


Matt was also honored by the New York State Masons with two awards for his service to the community and dedication to youth.
