Mattie passed away from complications of lung cancer at the young age of 78. Preceded in death by her husband, Linard and daughter Greta Yvette, brother Norman Brown, sisters Mae Warren and Annie Stanley.

Mattie will be fondly remembered by family and friends as a loving mother, over the top care giver, started out at Head Start as a school teacher, former parking representative for Pasadena Police Department and a long time executive secretary at Jet Propulsion Laboratory (JPL) where she eventually retired.
Mattie will be fondly remembered by family and friends as moms, auntie mommie, grandma and sister to many of her beloved adopted family from neighbors to strangers to whom their paths crossed as a loving mother (as I have stated being an only child "why do I have so many brothers and sisters that I cannot count?"), over the top care giver, amazing cook in the kitchen or as my dad fondly stated "man this lady can burn in the kitchen) former parking representative for Pasadena Police Department and a long time executive secretary at Jet Propulsion Laboratory (JPL) where she eventually retired to care for her husband due to his ongoing health issues.
