Mildred Virginia Lewis (nee Dudley), 87, of Union, N.J., transitioned peacefully on March 2, 2021, at Overlook Hospital in Summit N.J.
She was the youngest of 3 children born to the late Gaston Dudley and Thelma Gerald, on December 25, 1933, in Princeton, North Carolina.
She was preceded in death by her parents, (1) Brother; Bishop Leamon Dudley Sr. of Goldsboro N.C., and (1) Sister; Cassie Wilkerson of Philadelphia, PA.
Virginia graduated from Dillard High School in Goldsboro N.C. in 1952.
She married Frizzell Lewis Sr. (affectionately known as “Bay”) on October 5th, 1957 and they have lived together in Union for over Fifty years.
Virginia was employed by Overlook Hospital and retired after many years of service.
She accepted Christ at an early age and faithfully attended the First Baptist Church of Vauxhall N.J. She served on the Deaconess Board. She was a member of the Choir and for a period of time prepared Lunch weekly for the Noon Time Bible Study.
Her Family, Friends and Church Family were her passion. She loved cooking, shopping, spending time with her Grandchildren and Grand Dog Henri but, most importantly you didn’t want to call while she was watching the Young and the Restless.
Virginia leaves to cherish her memory her husband of 63 years, Frizzell Lewis Sr.; (3) Children: Frizzell Lewis Jr. (Charlene), of Union N.J.; Tara Lewis, of Plainfield N.J; and Tammy Lewis, of Plainfield N.J. (3) Sister’s in Law, Alee Lewis of Goldsboro N.C.; Pearlee Lewis of Newport News, VA and Elder Lucy Dudley of Lagrange, N.C.; Special Nephew Leamon Dudley Jr., of Westfield N.J. and her Goddaughter Donna Martin of Raleigh, N.C. She is also survived by her beloved Grandchildren: Janay Lewis and Jyaer Lewis and a host of Nieces, Nephews, Cousins, and Friends.
