Peter Derrick Shivers, 56, passed away on August 15th in Brooklyn, NY. Known as Pete to all who loved him, he was born in Kansas City, MO, to Isaiah and Alice Shivers on October 30, 1964. He married Yolanda Conley Shivers 18 years ago in Fort Worth, TX and they had one child, Isaiah.
Pete gave his life to Christ at the age of 9 years old and grew up attending Palestine Baptist Church in Kansas City, MO.
After his 1982 graduation from Van Horn High School in Independence, MO, and Manual Career Tech Center in Kansas City, MO, Pete went to Maple Woods Community College and Penn Valley Junior College before starting to work. Some of his places of employment include Bendix Corporation, the US Postal Service and Verizon but he truly had the heart and spirit of an entrepreneur. Pete owned several businesses during his life and was a successful real estate investor and day trader.
Pete spent the last 6 years of his life as a devoted coach and #1 fan to his son Isaiah. Through Pete's guidance, Isaiah has grown and developed and has a very bright future in the sport of baseball.
Pete was preceded in death by his father, Isaiah Shivers.
Pete is survived by his wife, Yolanda Conley Shivers; son, Isaiah Shivers; mother, Alice Johnson of Kansas City, MO; sister, Carla Griffin of Suwannee, GA; Sisters-in-Law, Cheryl Conley Fontenot (Wilrey) of Humble, TX; Marvis Conley Donalson of Oak Park, IL; brother-in-law Lloyd Conley of Humble, TX and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, nephews and dear friends.
