Obituary

From The Birmingham News from July 28, 2022:

Peter "Pedro" Printz, 81, passed away peacefully on July 27, 2022, at his home in Birmingham, Alabama. Peter was born February 22, 1941, in the Upper West Side of New York City, the son of Jerry Printz and Edith (Fertel) Printz. He graduated from Stuyvesant High School in New York City and received his BA from Harpur College in Binghamton, New York. He went on to receive his law degree and Masters degree in labor law from New York University. He started his career as in-house counsel for Sun Chemical Company in New York and later moved to Birmingham in 1977 to accept a job as a labor lawyer with Vulcan Materials Company. While he expected his move to Birmingham to be temporary, he fell in love with the laid-back southern lifestyle and remained at Vulcan Materials for 29 years, retiring in 2006. Prior to retirement, he achieved the Corporate Officer position of Vice President and Chief Labor Counsel. He also started the Travel Department at Vulcan, which became a passion project of his. After retirement he and his wife, Betsy, spent much of their time in their second home in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico, where Peter pridefully assumed the pseudonym, "Pedro", to which he exclusively introduced himself as to everyone he came into contact with after the year of 2006. Peter was a man of many interests. He traveled the world, collected wine, was a lover of food, a passionate golfer well known for his matching outfits and an avid fan of the New York Yankees, Giants, Rangers and especially all Alabama Crimson Tide sports. He was a great public speaker, an incredible story-teller and had an excellent sense of humor. Peter will be remembered for how much he loved people. He maintained close friendships throughout his life and made new friends wherever he went. More than anything, Peter loved spending time with his family. His three (3) grandchildren were his pride and joy. Peter is survived by his loving wife, Betsy, his son Adam (Rachel) Printz, daughter Lara Printz (Scott) Cline, his grandchildren, Connor, Hayden and Ciera, and his brother Desmonde. Donations in Peter's memory may be made to Temple Emanu-El in Birmingham, Alabama or B'nai Vail in Vail, Colorado.
