Philip Shundry 1952-2016, age 64, of Canton, Ohio died after a six year battle with multiple myeloma (blood cancer) on Thursday, November 10, 2016 at his home.
Born January 13, 1952 in Canton, Ohio, to Philip and Esther Shundry, he was a lifetime resident of Stark County and lived in Canton for more than 40 years. Phil graduated from Lincoln High School in 1972, married Janet Fox in 1974 and worked for Timken Steel for 30 years, retiring in 2002. Phil had a contagious smile, a huge heart, and, made everyone feel like they were family. He especially loved and enjoyed his grandchildren. He was an avid sports fan throughout his life, both as a spectator and participant. In 2012, he was inducted into the Greater Stark County Fumble Ball Association Hall of Fame as an outstanding fumble ball player.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Philip and Esther; mother-in-law, Betty Fox, and father-in-law, Thomas Fox. He is survived by his wife, Janet Shundry; his siblings, Michael, James, Gary and his twin sister, Phyllis Shundry; his son, Shawn (Jennifer) Fox of North Canton, his daughters, Shana (Joshua) Jacobs and Jenna Shundry of Canton; and grandchildren, Christian, Paige, Brieann, and Philip. He will also be missed by many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Family and friends will be received on Saturday, November 12, 2016 from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. at Reed Funeral Home Canton Chapel, 705 Raff Rd SW Canton, OH 44710 with services immediately following at 3 p.m.
