Raymonde Camille Polan, 93, passed away on August 11, 2020 in Winter Springs, FL.
She was born on August 27, 1926 in Gosselies, Belgium, and lived there until meeting her husband, Bernard Polan, an American soldier in WWII. Raymonde’s mother invited the soldiers in for dinner to thank them for their effort, introducing Bernard to Raymonde. They married and moved to the United States, where Raymonde worked in VA Hospital in Brooklyn. They had 3 children and 4 grandchildren. In 1987 they moved down to Florida, where Raymonde cared over her grandchildren, gardened and knit sweaters and blankets for the homeless.
She will be remembered for her kind selflessness, feistiness, generosity, and dedication to her family. She was happiest when she was surrounded by family.
She is predeceased by her husband, parents and siblings, and survived by her children Marjorie Tellez and son-in-law Carl, Brian Polan, Emilie Hansen and son-in-law Anthony, and grandchildren, Jillian Tellez Holub and grandson-in-law Conrad, Christian Tellez, Arne Hansen, and Christopher Hansen. She will be missed dearly by all.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to a local VA Hospital / Medical System.
