Obituary

In preparing for the future, our Dad wrote us a series of notes. Note number two provided his input for an obituary. It was very him and we chose not to publish one, but instead share his note:

Hi,

Capturing my minimalistic high privacy gene, I offer this note.

Love,

ASD

2. Obituary Suggestions *

You, of course, will decide, however, I’d suggest very minimal.

You owe nothing to the Washington Post readers. Remember, the more shit you put in the paper, the more flies you draw.

Mortenson, Victor A., Jr, of Arlington, VA died on ….[you owe nothing of where or how - quietly at home, run over by a beer truck, or why - natural causes, alien attack].

In lieu of a funeral, the family plans a Celebration of Life to be scheduled latter. Burial will be at sea.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to the Disabled American Veterans.

NOT NEEDED - but commonly included

Work career highlights

Predeceased by his wife, Kathy [full name probably optional, marriage length not required.]

Survived by his sister, Holly; his son, John; daughter, Kate Tilman; son-in-law, Sean Tilman; and grandson, Hunter Tilman, nieces and nephews, grand nieces and nephews, blah de blah de blah blah blah.
