William "Bill" Dowdy
July 3, 1965 - June 25, 2022
William “Bill” Dowdy, 56, of Wichita Falls passed away Saturday, June 25, 2022, after a courageous battle with pancreatic cancer.
There will be a brief graveside service at the Charlie Cemetery on Thursday, June 30, at 10:30 AM that is open to any who would like to attend. A Celebration of Life service will be held at 1:30 PM at First Baptist Church Wichita Falls (East Sanctuary), followed by a visitation. Arrangements are under the direction of Owens and Brumley Funeral Home in Wichita Falls.
Bill was born on July 3, 1965, to Joan and C. H. Dowdy and passed away on June 25, 2022. He was a lifelong resident of Clay County and graduated from Burkburnett High School and Hardin-Simmons University. He was both a member and employee of First Baptist Church Wichita Falls, where he served as the Records Administrator for the past 26 years.
Bill loved the Lord with all his heart. He was passionate about his job and saw it as a way to serve both others and his Lord. He adored his family and was a great favorite with his nieces and nephews. Bill was a kind and caring person whose goal in life was to help others. He had a fun sense of humor and was a joy to those who knew him. He was well loved and will be greatly missed.
Bill was preceded in death by his grandparents, Marvin and Edith Fleming and Claude and Amy Dowdy; and by an older brother, Bryan Dowdy.
Bill is survived by his parents, Joan and C. H. Dowdy of Thornberry; his sister Beth and husband David Laurence of Abilene; sister Lisa and husband Kenny Brueggeman of Robinson; niece Betsy and husband Colton Gragg of Abilene; nephew Will Laurence and wife Haley of Abilene; nephew Colin Brueggeman of Robinson; and great nieces Emma and Abby Gragg, and great nephew Owen Laurence, all of Abilene.
