William T. Squires, 83, of Lower Paxton Township, passed away Thursday February 9, 2023.Born January 2, 1940, in Harrisburg, he was a son of the late Thomas and Margaret (Pipp) Squires. Bill was a 1957 graduate of William Penn High School and later earned his Bachelor's degree from Susquehanna University, where he was a member of Lambda Chi Alpha Fraternity. On February 5, 1961, he was united in marriage with Elizabeth A. "Betsy" (Creeger) Squires, with whom he has shared a loving union of 62 years.Bill worked with Harrisburg Paper Company as a Purchasing Agent, for 36 years, until his retirement in 2002. From his youth, he maintained a sense of pride in being awarded the Order of the Arrow and earning the rank of Eagle Scout. Bill was an avid sports fan whether cheering on the NY Yankees or coaching Paxtonia Girls' Softball for nearly 15 years. Bill was also a man of tremendous faith and devoted to his beliefs, teaching Sunday School for over 50 years. He chaired the committee to plant the New Love in Christ Church where he had been a member and served as an Elder and Deacon. Bill was most recently a member of the New Hope Church.In addition to his wife, Betsy, he is survived by their children, Patty Squires, Bob (Allison) Squires, Vicki Squires and Tracey (Ron) Rash; six grandchildren, two great grandchildren and his brother, Bob (Shelley) Squires. He will be sadly missed by his loyal one-eyed dog Sam.
