Zachary Charles Richardson

May 26, 1967 - August 3, 2021

 

Knoxville - Zachary Charles Richardson passed away unexpectedly on August 3, 2021. He was born on May 26, 1967 in Abilene, TX, and was a long time resident of Knoxville, TN. He was a 1985 graduate of Abilene High School and graduated from Hardin-Simmons University in 1990. Zach also attended Golden Gate Baptist Theological Seminary.

He married the love of his life, Maria Wilson, on June 11, 1994. Zach was a dedicated, supportive husband and an amazing father to his beloved daughter Christina Rose. Zach's varied career path included working with children in a variety of capacities. In addition to serving in children's ministry, he enjoyed running his children's party entertainment business, Captain Z's Funmakers. He also recently served as a Behavior Health Support Specialist for Knox County Schools.

Zach was an incredibly friendly, loving, and creative person who never met a stranger. He was a pure soul: an artist, a writer, an actor, entertainer, an engaging storyteller, a musician, and a teacher. Known as Captain Z, Zachary became a regular fixture in the Knoxville area, bringing his expert balloon creations, silly jokes, and smiles to countless parties and events.

Zach is survived by his wife Maria; Daughter Christina; parents Charles and Karin Richardson; Brother Timothy (spouse Carla and daughter Chanae) and other relatives.

The family will be holding a memorial service at Trinity Community Church, 6706 Central Avenue Pike, Knoxville, TN, 37912, on Monday, August 16, at 6;00 PM. Receiving of friends and family will be from 5:00-6:00 PM. In lieu of flowers, send donations to the above address to: Richardson Memorial Fund to contribute to the needs of special ed classrooms in the Knoxville Community.
